Vincent Chase... your cars have just been repossessed ! What are you going to do now?
I'm going to Joshua Tree!
What could have been a well written look into the true psyche of the 5 main characters of Entourage turned out to be the flatest episode of the season so far. I was left feeling like I was being left out of an inside joke.
What truly did Vincent discover on this journey, and once again, what about the rest of the gang?
Or, that Turtle is still a mama's boy (and is jealous of Vince's relationship with E)
What about the fact that E could not talk? Is it because he has to do so much fast talking these days?
And, what of Drama? Why did he have no great epiphany?
When writing is at its most clever, the viewer is in on the joke or the revelation before the characters.
In this episode, the viewer was told what to think, and then told to think again.
It was too obvious.
I don't know. Maybe I was mad because Kevin Connolly didn't have any lines. All he got to do this episode is to look goofy (still cute though). Maybe I missed the witty banter that usually goes on in each episode. Maybe I wanted to see into the souls of these guys, and was disappointed by the missed opportunity.
In past weeks, we have talked about filler episodes. They are usually light and fluffy and like dessert. Sweet, with no substance, but delicious anyway.
This episode was more like the rye bread on the table in a Kosher restaurant. Dry, like the desert the boys wandered thru, and filling, but not much taste. Lacking in the butter found in other restaurants, we are left waiting for the main course. Hopefully, next week, we will be served a full course meal again.
Where do I place my order?

Cast of 'Entourage' shoot the breeze, and an episode, in Maspeth
Monday, September 8th 2008, 2:10 PM
Corkery/NewsActors (from l.) Jerry Ferrara, Kevin DIllon, Kevin Connolly and Adrian Grenier get ready to slip back into character for HBO's popular "Entourage" series.
The cast of "Entourage" lent some star power to a quiet block in Maspeth recently when they filmed an episode of the popular HBOseries there.
Showing that they really are just a bunch of Queens boys at heart, Vince (Adrian Grenier) Eric (Kevin Connolly), Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) and Drama (Kevin Dillon) leave glitzy Los Angeles to visit Vince's mom at her modest home near the intersection of 41st Drive and 58th St.
In the episode, which is scheduled to air later in the season, the stars are welcomed back to their old neighborhood with a backyard barbecue.
The show focuses on actor Vincent Chase, who lives with his brother and friends in Los Angeles. Once a mega-movie star and hunk, Chase saw his fortunes fade a bit last season with the tanking of his film "Medellin."
For once, Drama is avoiding his younger brother's big shadow now that he has his own successful TV show named "Five Towns."
This season, Vince is expected to look for ways to rejuvenate his career, while Drama deals with a long-distance romance and an appearance on "The View." Eric, Vince's best friend and manager, tries to help him rebound while working on his own growing management company.
The new season will feature numerous guest shots ranging from "Sopranos" starJamie-Lynn Sigler and Leighton Meester of "Gossip Girl" to singer Tony Bennettand golfer Phil Mickelson.
Actor Mark Wahlberg, who executive produces the show, will also make a special appearance. The characters are based on Wahlberg's own entourage.
While the characters often discuss their Queens roots - one of Vince's pet projects was an indie film titled "Queens Boulevard" - this is the first time an episode is being shot in the borough.
The cast and crew mingled with neighbors during the shoot, posed for pictures and met local firefighters.
The show's fifth season premiered on Sunday.

It was still nice to see the boys on 32 inches rather than the small window of my laptop.
Tonight's show reminded me of a few things. Vincent Chase is very lucky to have such a loyal crew. Last season, he had almost become someone you could respect. Did he make a mistake putting so much trust in Billy Walsh? Yes. Did he still have fun whenever possible? Absolutely. But, he seemed to grow up somehow.
Watching Vinnie lounging in bed, on the beach, and in a hammock during tonight's premiere reminded me of the guy that wouldn't even read his own scripts back in seasons 1 and 2. He left that to his ever loyal best friend Eric Murphy.
Vincent left E behind in Hollywood to hide away in Mexico with Turtle. Was it a defensive move? Yes. Did he do it to escape the backlash and lick his wounds? Absolutely. But, I thought the guy he had become in Season 4 would have been more mature than that.
When Vinnie hung up on E and, then, later, wouldn't even agree to go back after E and Ari flew down, I felt angry. I was disappointed by how he joked about how much E and Ari were starting to look alike. Like what? Grownups who didn't shuck their responsibilites, and stayed behind to take care of business.
Vince seems to take for granted that people will always be there for him and do for him. He is unfair in that matter. Even though E has walked away before, Vince knows he will always come back. Why? Because he is lucky enough to have loyal friends who will love him no matter what.
Now, back in Hollywood, Vince finally cares about getting out from the bottom. Once again Drama, Turtle and E will support him and make sure he gets "back where he belongs". And, I'm angry for these guys. Why? Because it seems like these guys are never allowed to take care of themselves and their goals. How about Drama? Isn't he allowed to enjoy having a role on a hit tv show and a girlfriend? And Turtle? When will he be able to follow his dream of being a music producer? And E? He had to leave his only loyal client behind to track down Vince. Seriously! (sorry, borrowing from my Grey's)
So, my hope for Season 5? Grow up Vince! Learn how to support your brother and your friends. Start to take things seriously a little. Truly care about what someone else thinks. No more lip service.
Take your medicine like a man. If you do that, we will follow you loyaly into Season 6. If not, we'll start to fast forward thru your scenes and only watch E and LLoyd. This way, we will get to watch what this show was originally about in action: True, unconditional loyalty!
HBO's Entourage stars Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Jeremy Piven, Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Dillon and Rex Lee.

Thanks to fellow blogger Mark LaMonica at Newsday, I stumbled upon these fantastic pics of Kevin Connolly, as Eric Murphy, and the cast of Entourage! Great Eye Candy! Enjoy! Season 5 looks hot hot hot!!!
Looks like Eric Murphy has stepped up his wardrobe for Season 5, but Vincent Chase has kept it casual as ever!
Two weeks to the premiere! I can't wait!
